STATEMENT FROM L.A. CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE GRACE YOO REGARDING THE SENTENCING OF MARK RIDLEY-THOMAS AND PENDING ARRAIGNMENT OF COUNCILMEMBER CURREN PRICE

“Today’s 3.5 year prison sentence for former Los Angeles City Councilmember Mark Ridley-Thomas serves as a stark reminder that no one is above the law. Corruption erodes the trust of our community and undermines the very foundations of our democracy. Moving forward we must ensure that we hold our representatives to the highest standards of integrity and transparency.

Regarding the pending arraignment involving Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren Price, I believe in the importance of due process and a fair investigation. Our constituents deserve transparency and accountability in all matters related to public service. It is my hope that through this process, the truth will be unveiled and justice will be served.

Let us recommit ourselves to the values that our city stands for – honesty, integrity, and a dedication to the well-being of all Angelenos. As we move forward, we must work tirelessly to rebuild trust, restore faith in our institutions, and ensure that the actions of a few do not define the essence of our council.

Thank you.”
